While Halloween and the fall season may look different this year due to COVID-19, there are still plenty of opportunities to safely enjoy the season of change.
Here are some fall and Halloween themed events that you can enjoy in New York City. Note: Tickets must be reserved in advance for most events, masks must be worn, and social distancing will apply.
Ghost Tours of Greenwich Village Ghosts of NYC, Manhattan
If you’re looking for some local ghost stories to keep you awake at night, you’re in luck. NYC Ghosts runs tours of some notoriously haunted places in Greenwich Village. Come find out what history is behind every corner of New York City.
Boo at the zoo Bronx Zoo
Until November 1, guests who come to Boo at the Zoo can enjoy a number of Halloween-themed activities Thursday through Sunday throughout the month, including Monday, October 12. Activities will include daily magic shows, professional scary extinct animal cemetery demonstrations. Costume animal-themed stilts and Halloween animal puppets will headline the MASKerade, and guests can enjoy live entertainment throughout the day at the Wildlife Theater in Astor Court.
Spooktacular Staten Island Zoo
From October 23 to 25, guests have the chance to visit the Spooktacular at the Staten Island Zoo. Come dressed in your favorite costume for an evening of skits, hangouts and greetings and more. Snacks will be available for purchase on site and the event will take place rain or shine.
Dinner and cinema at Vale Park The William Vale, Brooklyn
The William Vale is hosting a plethora of spooky themed events this month. From October 14-30, The William Vale is partnering with Shudder and IFC to host a dinner and movie at Vale Park, with the horror films for the Halloween season. Must be 21 years of age or older to participate.
Pumpkin patch Queens Botanical Garden
Who doesn’t love a pumpkin? On October 24, 25 and 31, the Queens Botanical Garden hosts a pumpkin patch perfect for all ages. All kids can choose their own pumpkin and take home craft activity, and there are plenty of fall-themed photo opportunities to capture the memories.
Great pumpkin path New York Botanical Garden, Bronx
From now until November 3, the New York Botanical Garden in the Bronx hosts a walkway surrounded by pumpkins and squash of various sizes. Some giant pumpkins will join the Conservatory Lawn on October 24.
The incredible corn maze, and more Queens County Farm Museum
From harvest weekends to the fall escape, Queens Farm is full of fun things to do throughout the month. Take a stroll through the Amazing Corn Maze every weekend in October, and if you’re feeling brave, you can wander the Night Maze on October 24 for their Maze by Moonlight. Don’t forget to drop by the farm on Halloween for some spooky festivities.
Paranormal Historical Investigations at Morris-Jumel Mansion Manhattan
Have you ever wondered what paranormal events are happening in Washington Heights? Take a tour of the Morris-Jumel Mansion, which has attracted academics over the years for its paranormal finds, while learning the basics of ghost hunting. You must be at least 18 years old to participate in this tour.
Old house day Historic Town of Richmond, Staten Island
From 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on October 18, historic Richmond is hosting its annual Old House Day. Guests can enjoy exhibits showcasing historic crafts, home cooking, and costumed living history presentations by staff at Historic Richmond. Tickets are available online and at the door, although entry at the door is not guaranteed.
The day of the Dead Green-Wood Cemetery, Brooklyn
Celebrate and remember those who passed by at this special Dia de Los Muertos event in Brooklyn.
