3.4 earthquake: 3 km southeast of Indius, Puerto Rico, 23 October 2020 08:15

Just 38 minutes ago in the early morning of October 23 at 4.15 am local time, a magnitude 3.4 earthquake occurred near the town of Indius, Puerto Rico, 10 kilometers below the surface, is seismically shallow. The event was introduced by the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first seismic agency to report on it. Our monitoring service in VolcanoDiscovery identified a second report from the European Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) that mentioned a magnitude 3.4 earthquake as well. Based on the preliminary seismic data, the earthquake should not have caused any major damage, but it was probably felt by many people as a slight shaking in the epicenter area. Initial calculations include, Indios (population 1,700) at 3 km with weak vibration, Guayanilla (population 5,200) at 6 km with weak vibration, Bayamón (population 203,500) at 84 km, and San Juan (pop. 418,100) At a distance of 93 km. In recent places, the earthquake may not have been felt.
