The next Evil Dead movie will take place in a high-rise city

Following three films directed by SamRaimi, a two-season sequel to Starz, and the 2013 soft reboot directed by Fede Alvarez, the Evil Dead franchise is moving away from its rustic roots and cabin-in-the-woods aesthetic, for a new bloody adventure that takes place in a building of a big city. The title Evil Dead Rise was revealed last summer by Ash Williams himself, Bruce Campbell, along with the idea that the “next film will shake up the proven franchise formula by deviating from some key narrative elements, such as the classic “cabin in the woods” decor.

Director Lee Cronin recently expanded on this concept during a conversation with Bloody disgusting, saying the film will feature a female heroine in a city, possibly in a high-rise apartment complex (hence the title).

“I am confident that I will be doing something that is both familiar and refreshing,” Cronin said. “I’m going to deliver a roller coaster of horror. That’s what the point is here. Relentless. Don’t stop to explain too much. It has to be extremely visceral, very entertaining, downright scary. Pushing the boundaries, that is. is also important. “

In an interview with AL.com, Campbell said the film starts when “this book goes around, a lot of people meet it and that’s a different story.”
