Google Nest Tests Nest Hub Device Settings Redesign

In the last few months, the Google Home app has been rolling out new features last week, from dark themes to full Wi-Fi control to home / away routines. Google is currently testing a highly welcome redesign of Nest Hub, Home and other device settings.

To change the settings, first open the device in the Google Home app and tap the gear icon in the upper right corner. You will usually see a very long list of Device Settings.

It starts by recording the name of the device you are redesigning and editing in the app bar. This one-page pager is divided into two sections:

General

Device Information: This includes the firmware version, IP / MAC address, and other “technical information” that was previously at the bottom of the screen. You can also control whether you are using the preview program and room placement. Recognition and Sharing: Personal Results Includes Face Match and Ultlrasound Sensing with Nest Hub Max Notifications and Digital Wellbeing: Night Mode, DND

Many of the controls haven’t changed before, but everything is better organized. For example, the photo frame settings in the Google Home app are the same for this redesign.

Previously, changing settings required the user to scroll line by line if they didn’t know where to look. Even those familiar with it couldn’t bypass and jump quickly to what they needed.

This redesign of Google Home device settings hasn’t been widely deployed yet. Appears only on any Android smartphone running version 2.29.1.7 and applies only to Nest Hub Max displays. In my case, Chromecast with speakers and Google TV will continue to display the previous list design.
