Trudeau Announces $ 492 Million In Halifax To Boost Youth Employment | Canada | New

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced more than $ 492 million to boost youth employment at an event in north Halifax on Tuesday morning.

Trudeau said the funding would go to "essential work", including training and improving the language skills of new Canadians.

He said about $ 17 million will be spent on projects in Nova Scotia, including about $ 1 million for Common Good Solutions.

The money, through the Youth Skills and Employment Strategy, "will help tens of thousands of young people across Canada who face barriers to employment," said a government release. Responding to questions from reporters after the announcement, Trudeau mainly answered questions about how the federal government is dealing with the COVID-19 virus.

He said that Canada followed the recommendations of the World Health Organization in its approach and expressed confidence that the strategy was "appropriate for Canada".

The Prime Minister also said that the federal government is working with other countries and the provinces to ensure that Canadians are preserved.

Trudeau is expected to attend another event in Nova Scotia before leaving the province.
