The Doncaster Council tracks and tracks for those missed by government programs

The NHS test and trace system has received some criticism as data show that only about 60% of people who need to be warned about potential Covid-19 exposure can be contacted.

The Government’s Emergency Science Advisory Group (SAGE) recommends that at least 80 percent of close contact with positive cases must be reached for the system to be effective.

The NHS Test and Trace (NHSTT) system allows people to be tested as needed, identifying close contact with people who test positive and seeking self-quarantine for Covid-19 in the United Kingdom. The purpose is to control the epidemic.

Due to non-optimal contact rates, some opposition politicians are demanding test and trace resources to be provided to local governments.

Dr. Rupert Suckling, director of public health at the Doncaster Council, previously said the “partnership approach” would be more beneficial and added that his team would start it in the coming weeks.

Dr. Suckling said the resources they have could make about 1,000 contact tracing calls per week across Doncaster.

He also welcomed additional tests as Doncaster was chosen to have the first 10,000 rapid Covid-19 lateral flow tests that could return results in less than an hour.

“It’s good to have good additional testing for NHS staff, prisons, and caregivers, as well as certain asymptomatic people,” he said.

“Our challenge is not just to put it all together, but to properly send positive tests to tests and traces.

“To support testing and tracing, there is a timeline to take over so-called local contact tracing for those who couldn’t figure out testing and tracing.

“The risk of testing and contact tracing could be reduced, and we worked with our team to free up the ability to make about 1,000 contact tracing calls a week.”
