End Times Entertainment for Quarantine Consumption – The Daily Utah Chronicle
Self-isolation gave me time to occupy my favorite place on the couch and catch up on the shows I wanted to enjoy. The downside is that I had to contend with the list of shows that I have absolutely no interest in watching but that have been recommended to me by well-meaning friends. Instead of sitting through them, Ive compiled a watch list focused on my current sardonic perspectives on the world. There are many end-time entertainments that seem relevant to our COVID-19 situation, spanning the gamut from sitcom to series. This collection is a very wise but incredibly definitive collection of apocalypse-specific content for isolated individuals.
TV comedies that feel too relevant
“The last man on earth”
If you feel like you’re not coming out alive, Will Forte’s post-apocalyptic comedy hits the nail on the head. Forte plays former bank employee Phil Miller who thinks he is the only survivor of a cataclysm until he meets Carol Pilbasian, played by Kristen Schaal, and believes that both are essential for saving the breed human.
Available to broadcast on Hulu
“The right place”
If being in quarantine makes you feel like you’re stuck in the wrong place, it’s only fitting to spread the genius of Michael Schurs’ sitcom. Kristen Bell plays the role of “Arizona trash” Eleanor Shellstrop which is found in the part of the afterlife called “The Good Place”. When she is led into the neighborhood by her “architect” Michael, interpreted by Ted Danson, she discovers that she does not belong to it.
Available on Netflix, Hulu and NBC
Instead of watching all seasons, there are a few select episodes of beloved shows that revolve around pandemic panic so perfectly that they deserve honorable mentions.
“Parks and leisure”
Flu season (season 3, episode 2);Emergency response (season 5, episode 15) andInfluenza season 2 (season 6, episode 19)
Available on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime.
“30 Rock”
Influenza vaccinated (season 3, episode 8)
Available on Hulu and Amazon Prime
Masterpieces of this season’s news film
“Parasite”
This dark thriller in Korean by Bong Joon-ho which swept the most recent Oscars testifies to the fear and the feeling of infiltration which surround our current world. The film follows a destitute family making their way into the home of a wealthy family. There are bonus points if you watch this film in COVID isolation with a member of the xenophobic family.
Available for rent on YouTube, Google Play and Amazon Prime
“Jojo Rabbit”
If staying in your home for several weeks seems like too much to sacrifice, find out about Taika Waititi’s Oscar-winning film. Roman Griffin Davis plays the Hitler youth Jojo Metzler, whose closest companion is his imaginary friend Adolf Hitler himself played by Taika Waititi. However, his point of view is upset when he discovers a Jewish girl living within its walls. The somber backdrop of World War II comes to life with the color of Jojo’s imagination and makes it another perfect film to release in quarantine.
Available for rental on Youtube, Google Play and Amazon Prime
Ancient apocalyptic science fiction (and their restarts)
“The twilight area”
If your reality is a little too much like science fiction, return to the original thriller with The Twilight Zone. With over 80 original, standalone episodes and now over 150 in total, this show is the pinnacle of classic horror, tackling a variety of existential fears. Here is a warning to overly superstitious and easily frightened!
Available on Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime
“Mystery Science Theater 3000”
If you still want to watch black and white movies but can’t help but talk about the plot points and the obsolete and creaky technology, there’s nothing better to be embarrassed that 12 dry-minded and science fiction seasons fail “Mystery Science Theater 3000.” Located on the Love Satellite, a human test subject and his team of robots are forced by a mad scientist to sit through horrific movies until they go crazy.
Available on Netflix
Special offers on stand-up comedy
End of fun times Marc Maron
In one of the funniest comedy promotions I’ve ever seen, Maron openly predicts the end of the world, including everything from aggressive Marvel Universe fanatics to taking do-nothing supplements. In songs that are only slightly pessimistic, he reminds us all, There are many jobs in a hot sky. “
Available on Netflix
“The planet is burning Ilana Glazer
With his usual irreverent comedy that defines his work on the hugely popular show Comedy Central Broad City, Glazers kicks off the special stand-up covering everything from outdated gender roles to role playing from his childhood Holocaust. His light attitude to the state of the world is a welcome distraction from what’s outside our windows.
Available on Amazon Prime
Popular dystopias for a modern audience
“Black mirror”
If you haven’t plunged your toes into this contemporary tech thriller, Twilight-Zone-esque, I can guarantee that “Black Mirror” won’t relieve your current fears. This existential anthology of diverse stories tackles the parts of the digital world that scare us the most by presenting them in the not too distant future. With a stand-alone interactive film too, the “Black Mirror” franchise keeps you on the edge of your seat.
Available on Netflix
“The end of the world F *** ing”
If you’re looking to dive into the minds of anxious teens, “The End of the F *** ing World” follows an identifying psychopath, James (Alex Lawther), as he plans to kill his comrade class, Alyssa (Jessica Barden), while the two run away from home together. The following is a messy and horrible plot, but it seems familiar to do so through unprecedented scenarios.
Available on Netflix
As the feeling of the end of the world encroaches, I found comfort in the characters and worlds grappling with unimaginable fears. In the escape from it all, I hope you will feel less lonely while waiting for quarantine, regardless of your gender preference.

Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history.
