Portland, Oregon (KTVZ)-For four consecutive days, the Oregon Department of Health reported a record high (1,517) of new confirmed estimated cases of COVID-19 in Oregon on Sunday.
This results in 65,170 cases and 944,444 negative test results across the state.
COVID-19 also killed another person in Oregon and increased the state’s death toll to 820, OHA reported Sunday at 12:01 am.
The number of cases on Sunday was eight more than the 1,509 reported on Saturday, after a record high of 1,225 cases on Thursday and 1,306 on Friday.
“Oregon is on a steep slope with a surge in coronavirus cases,” OHA director Patrick Allen said on Sunday. “But we are not helpless in the face of this virus, because it is up to us to delay its spread. Your choices make a difference.
“Local health officials in all parts of the state investigated outbreaks that seemed innocent at the time, but started with gatherings that led to illness and, in some cases, hospitalization and death for many.
