In Bangladesh, the number of deaths from the virus exceeds 6,700 and the number of cases is close to 470,000.
Bangladesh reported an additional 38 COVID-19 deaths on Wednesday, increasing the number of deaths in the country to 6,713.
According to the Ministry of Health, about 2,200 more virus cases totaled 469,423, and the recovery rate increased by 2,562 to 385,786.
Currently, the recovery rate is 82.18% and the mortality rate is 1.43%.
Over 15,900 samples have been tested over the past day, which is still below the expert recommended 25,000-30,000 mark.
To date, approximately 2.8 million tests have been performed in approximately 165 million countries.
A recent report by Transparency International shows that Bangladesh is conducting the same number of tests despite the growing number of laboratories dedicated to COVID-19 screening.
The government responded by saying the numbers weren’t rising as people were reluctant to test themselves.
As a new wave of winter infections threatens in Bangladesh, authorities are imposing “no mask, no service” rules on all sectors to promote stricter implementation of safety guidelines.
All places of worship are told that people wear masks and keep a physical distance.
All institutions will remain closed until at least December 19th and all public exams will be cancelled.
Bangladesh was closed from March to May and the restrictions were lifted in June to resume economic activity.
