Brexit: A House Speaker has denied a vote on the Brexit deal – BBC News
In another of Boris Johnson’s retreats to the Brexit planet, the Speaker of the House of Commons has rejected the government’s offer to vote on the prime minister’s proposals to leave the European Union. Johnson hoped MPs would have a chance today to approve the deal reached last week with the EU. John Bercow said a motion on the deal had already been tabled by lawmakers on Saturday, and parliamentary rules prevented it from being re-discussed. The government says it is disappointed, but promised that by 31 October Britain would continue with the necessary legislation to get it out of the EU.
