Toronto Public Health Updates COVID-19 School Screening Tool-Toronto
Toronto Public Health has made some changes to them COVID-19 (new coronavirus infection) (# If there is no character limit, add parentheses when it first appears Currently, school screening tools that include students with one symptom must be at home, including siblings.
In a release released Friday, Toronto Public Health has a new requirement that students must stay home, self-quarantine, and be tested if they have any of the symptoms of the coronavirus.
If students live in the same household with their siblings, they must all be self-quarantined, TPH added.
Use of the new COVID-19 screening tool will begin on Monday, December 7th.
The local public health department said the renewal was based on an outbreak survey conducted at schools throughout Toronto.
More specifically, if the child has one or more new or worsening COVID-19 symptoms, the parent should do the following:
- Leave your child at home.
- Keep your siblings and other children at home, even if you have no symptoms.
- Arrange for your child to be tested or contact your healthcare provider.
- Without testing, the child must stay at home for 10 days.
- Monitor family symptoms. Adults must be at home if they have one or more symptoms.

A new pilot project by the Government of Ontario has begun at school for a voluntary COVID-19 test for asymptomatic staff and students against the virus.

The Toronto Public Health Service said Toronto is currently closed and in the gray zone, and that it and updated school screening tools will support early detection of COVID-19 cases.
Thorncliff Park PS, at the eastern end of the city, was part of an asymptomatic testing project last week, and since then 26 cases have been detected between staff and students.
Dr. Vinita Dubay, Deputy Head of Public Health in Toronto, said:
“This new screening tool provides additional protection for staff, students, and the entire community to help keep the city safer while keeping the school open while continuing to live at COVID-19.” Said Duvey.
