Economist David Miles has told us how economic accidents caused by a pandemic will also affect people’s health and well-being. Although the UK has begun rolling out a new vaccine against coronavirus, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson has stressed that the level system in England should continue into the winter. And the governments of Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland have similar measures in place to try to reduce the spread of the virus. Some have argued that cuts and blockades will do more harm than good in the long run. Others say something needs to be done to reduce infections and control the pandemic.
