France is making progress against the virus, despite the surge in incidents

France continued its overall progress in the fight against the coronavirus on Tuesday, despite a surge in cases and an increase in deaths.
According to the Ministry of Health, infectious diseases have increased significantly from 3,411 to 13,713, including those who died from the disease in hospitals and elderly housing with care.
There has been a steady decline in the last few weeks, reflecting the overall downtrend. The total number of infections has been 2,309,621 since records management began in March.
Deaths increased from 366 on Monday to 380, with official deaths since March 56,352.
The number of hospitalizations decreased by one to 8,373. A total of 1,100 people stayed in the intensive care unit, and 31 patients decreased from the previous day.
The positive rate in France dropped significantly from 10.7% the day before to 6.4%.
Since the virus was first detected in Wuhan, China in December last year, COVID-19 has killed more than 1.5 million people worldwide. According to the latest figures from the US-based Johns Hopkins University, the total number of infections has exceeded 68 million, with more than 43.7 million recovery.
