20% reduction in dose of Montana COVID-19 vaccine
The COVID-19 vaccine dose allocation by the end of the year in Montana has been reduced by the federal government by 20%, the Governor’s Office announced on Friday.
The state predicts that it will receive 60,000 doses by the end of the year, with a 20% reduction now allowing a total of 48,000 doses.
“It’s unfortunate news that the expected allocation of vaccines has decreased, but our priority is to protect those who are most vulnerable to serious viral illness and death and those who are on the front lines. Remains the same, “said Governor Steve Brock in a release. “We are further reducing the burden on hospitals and making the most of the resources available to save lives.”
Similar reductions have been made in several other states, including Michigan, Illinois, Washington, Kansas, Nebraska, New Hampshire, and Indiana.

Who will be vaccinated against COVID-19?
The Montana Department of Public Health has allocated about 6,900 shipments of Pfizer vaccine next week to be distributed to care facilities throughout the state.

The federal government has reportedly signed contracts with CVS, Walgreens, and Big Sky Managed Care Pharmacy to provide onsite COVID-19 vaccination services for nursing homes and life support facilities.
How many doses did Montana expect to take?
The state initially expected to receive 10,725 Pfizer vaccines next week, but only 6,825 to reduce it.
The Governor’s Office has announced that the state will be vaccinated with the Moderna vaccine about 18,300 times next week. However, the governor’s office said it expects that number to decline “in the coming weeks.”
The Moderna vaccine contains 100 doses per box and does not require ultra-cold storage, making it easy to distribute to rural environments and small care facilities.

Modena vaccines will be shipped to critical access hospitals and community health centers for healthcare professionals at the forefront of the pandemic. The list of facilities receiving the Moderna vaccine will be finalized next week.
By Friday, more than 3,000 healthcare workers in the state have been vaccinated with the COVID-19 vaccine since the COVID-19 vaccine was first available at 10 hospitals in Montana earlier this week.
The Great Falls Clinic, Benefis Health System, and Indian Family Health Clinic were among the locals vaccinated this week. On Wednesday, Tim Street, a provider who worked in the clinic’s respiratory unit, first received the vaccine at the Great Falls Clinic. Approximately 400 healthcare professionals in the clinic have signed up for the first dose of the vaccine.

Montana COVID-19 updates
The state posted 750 new COVID-19 cases on Saturday, bringing the total for Montana to 76,619 confirmed reports.
Of all cases, 67,271 have recovered and 8,484 remain active. According to the state website covid19.mt.gov, 267 of the total 3,248 hospitalizations are currently in the hospital.
Montana killed 10 people overnight, bringing the total death toll associated with respiratory illness to 864.
The state has tested 752,243 against the coronavirus, which is 4,441 more than Friday.
Cascade County reported 42 cases. The county currently has 1,302 active cases, 4,905 recovery, and 83 deaths. Cascade City-The County Health Department reported on Friday that the county case rate had dropped to 75 per 100,000. The county reported a case rate of 88 per 100,000 last week.
“We are moving in the right direction,” CCHD wrote in a Facebook post.
The first case of COVID-19 in Montana was reported on March 11.
Yellowstone County has reported 122 new cases. This is the state’s highest daily total of new COVID-19 cases on Saturday. To date, the county has experienced a total of 13,184 cases and 149 deaths. As of Saturday, there were 10,899 recoveries.

Missoula County reported 91 new cases, bringing the number of active cases to 867. Lewis and Clark County reported 69 new cases on Saturday, Flathead reported 56, and Gallatin published 44 new COVID-19 cases.
Richland County, northeastern Montana, reported 42 cases on Saturday, bringing the county’s total to 828 since the pandemic began. The county reported that there were 37 active cases and 9 deaths.
Hill County recorded 13 new cases as of Saturday and currently has 68 active cases. 1,440 recovery and 32 deaths have been reported in Hill County.
