As we get closer to Christmas, Kwanzaa, and New Year, things aren’t looking so good in Southern California.

Los Angeles has reported 145 more deaths linked to COVID-19, breaking another record for the highest number of deaths in a single day since the pandemic began.

In Orange County, work crews are building a mobile field hospital with an additional 50 beds to keep up with the unprecedented increase. Ventura County topped 300 hospital admissions for the first time, joining LA with a 0% intensive care unit capacity for coronavirus patients.

San Bernardino County has the highest rate of new infections per 100,000 residents of the state, with an average of 1,816 over the past seven days.

Meanwhile – as if to explain exactly how and why this virus continues to spread uncontrollably – dozens of people joined actor Kirk Cameron in a crowded unmasked gathering to sing Christmas carols at the Oaks Mall in Thousand Oaks. It was the second song the actor hosted.
