The number of patients treated with Covid in UK hospitals has risen to over 30,000. More than 1,000 deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, the highest since the peak of the first wave of the pandemic in April 2020. The London area is in the midst of a crisis. A BBC team has stopped filming inside the intensive care unit of the University Hospital of the capital.
