McConnell says the Senate will not return early to the Trump trial

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell rejects democratic calls for the Senate to immediately condemn President Donald Trump, a decision that will likely allow the president to fill the last days in office. The majority leader has sent a note to Republican senators saying the chamber will not return until Jan. 19, a person who has seen it says the impeachment trial will not begin until the first days of Joe Biden’s presidency.
