The German Research Center for Geosciences (GFZ) reported a magnitude 5.3 earthquake in Iran near Bandar Lengeh, Hormuzgan, just 11 minutes ago. The earthquake struck just after midnight Saturday January 16, 2021 at 12:31 local time at a shallow depth of 10 km. The exact size, focus and depth of an earthquake may be revised within the next few hours or minutes as seismologists review the data and refine their calculations, or when other agencies release their report. The center (EMSC), which classified it as a magnitude 5.4 earthquake, and based on preliminary seismic data, many people probably felt the earthquake in the epicenter area. It should not have caused much damage, other than falling off shelves, broken windows, etc. At Bandar Lengeh (popup 22800) located 58 km from the epicenter, the earthquake was supposed to be felt as a slight shaking. It was felt in Bandar Abbas (352.200) located 102 km from the epicenter.
