ED Arrests Former Jet Airways President Naresh Goyal After Interrogation
The Law Enforcement Branch (ED) arrested former Jet Airways president and promoter Naresh Goyal after long hours of questioning at his office in Ballard Estate on Wednesday.
According to Time of india, the DE took Goyal to his residence in south Mumbai for research. He filed a money laundering complaint against him.
The agency surveyed Jet and Goyal under the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) and was considering filing a money laundering complaint.
At least three agencies, the Income Tax Department, the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) and ED, are probing Jet Airways. While the tax department is investigating suspected tax fraud, the SFIO is investigating the company's affairs and the ED is investigating allegations of money laundering also relating to a FEMA violation. The ED, which has probed the Jets' financial transactions over the past 12 years, has interviewed Goyal more than a dozen times in the Fema case. He also interrogated his wife and son several times.
