St. James Public School has moved to virtual learning as more COVID-19 cases have been reported at schools in Thunder Bay
The third school in Thunder Bay has been closed for face-to-face learning this week, but cases of COVID-19 are associated with several other schools.
On Monday night, the Lakehead District Board of Education announced that it would move St. James Public School to practical operation from Tuesday to at least next week.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit declared an outbreak of COVID-19 in schools after testing additional individuals as virus-positive, judging that they were likely to spread within the school.
The other two schools (Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute and Kingsway Park Public School) moved to virtual learning on Monday after an outbreak was declared late last week and additional cases were identified over the weekend.
Also on Monday, the Board announced that each case was associated with Woodcrest Public School, Ecole Gron Morgan Public School, and Lakehead Adult Education Center. Cases related to Valley Central Public School have previously been identified.
The Thunder Bay Catholic District Board of Education, along with schools of St. Elizabeth, Pope John Paul II, and Corpus Christi, has an incident related to the St. Martin School, which was declared outbreak on Monday.
