The health unit reported 36 new COVID cases in the area and occurred in Tudhope Manor.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit reported 36 new COVID-19 cases and 1 death in today’s update.

The death reported today was a Bradford woman between the ages of 45 and 64 who died on February 23. Her case is considered “sporadic” and has nothing to do with the outbreak.

Currently, there are 522 active lab-identified cases in the area, most of which are in Simcoe County.

According to the Health Unit, 182 local cases were positive for the B.1.1.7 variant that occurred in the United Kingdom, an increase of 8 cases from the previous report.

The eight confirmed variant cases were previously reported as cases, but are now confirmed as B.1.1.7 variant cases. They include two in Collingwood’s apartment building, one from Roberta Place’s long-term care facility, a secondary contact to Roberta Place, one in the Bradford Valley Care community, and what is the outbreak? Includes three unrelated sporadic cases.

There were 276 cases screened positive as variants (waiting for confirmation tests to determine which variant), an increase of 13 cases from yesterday.

Since the start of the pandemic, local health units have identified 6,362 cases of COVID-19, of which 5,606 have recovered and 188 have died.

Twenty people from Simcoe County are hospitalized with COVID-19. One more hospitalization has been reported since yesterday’s update.

The Health Unit administered 37,208 Pfizer-BioNTech vaccines against Simcombescoca’s COVID-19 to local hospitals, long-term care facilities, retirement home healthcare professionals, and residents of all eligible care facilities. .. The health unit reports that more than 15,000 people in the area have been vaccinated with both required doses, including more than 90% of long-term care residents in the area.

New cases reported today in Simcoe County and Muskoka District include (unless otherwise stated, case transmission is under investigation):

• Barry (18): One young person under the age of 18, 11 women aged 18-34, one woman aged 35-44, one woman and one man aged 45-64, and one woman aged 65-79. There are also two Barry cases without identification information. Six cases are associated with close contact, three are due to community infections, and one is associated with an outbreak.
• Bradford West Gwillinbury (6): Two men and women aged 35-44, women aged 45-64, women and men aged 65-79. One case is due to a community infection.
• Gold-Medonte (2): Men between the ages of 35 and 44 and men over the age of 80, whose cases are associated with outbreaks.
