India questions Ankara over Turkish President Erdogans' comments on violence in Delhi

New Delhi (Sputnik): community clashes in the national capital of India have caused condemnation by the international community. From organizations and politicians in the United States to Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, everyone has found an opportunity to comment on the recent violence in parts of northeast Delhi that left 52 people dead.
India launched an approach to the Turkish ambassador in Delhi regarding the comment by President Recep Tayyip Erdogans on the violence last month in the northeast parts of the Indian capital.
Declaring that the situation in the regions of Delhi affected by the violence returns to normal, the spokesman of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar, said that the comments of the Turkish presidents were in fact inaccurate and dictated by his own agenda Politics.
We do not expect such statements to come from a head of state. We made a strong move with the Turkish ambassador here in Delhi on March 3 on the statement, said Kumar.
The northeast district of Delhi witnessed widespread violence on February 24 and 25 following clashes between two communities, triggered by abrasions between two groups opposed or favorable to the modified citizenship law (CAA) .
Last week, the Turkish president condemned the violence by declaring that "India has now become a country where massacres are widespread. What massacres? Massacres of Muslims. By whom? Hindus".
Following Erdogan's statement, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan also described violence in Delhi as carnage of Muslims, state-sponsored terrorism by police and RSS gangs (Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh ) will lead to the radicalization of 200 million Indian Muslims.
Urging people not to make irresponsible comments, Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Kumar asked not to be influenced by a selective and unsubstantiated account of the matter.
In the violence between anti and pro citizenship protesters, at least 52 people died and more than 350 were injured, while many are still missing.
The new law grants citizenship to persecuted minorities, including Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Christians, Jains and Buddhists from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Because the law excludes Muslims, some see it as part of an exercise to strip them of their Indian citizenship.
The Indian government, however, clarified that the amended law does not deny citizenship to anyone in India, but offers illegal immigrants persecuted in other countries the opportunity to receive Indian citizenship.
