The government is rejecting calls to calm the coronavirus blockade, saying the blast remains a “delicate and dangerous” stage. Ministers are urging people to adapt to what they call the “new normal”.
As Prime Minister Boris Johnson returns to work, the government has said the current cuts are having a positive impact, with fewer people being treated in hospital.
There is concern about the tests being carried out on staff and residents of care homes in the area. The BBC has spoken to more than 200 suppliers, and three-quarters said it has not done any project for its staff.
