Risk of dying from Covid-19 40 times the risk of rare blood clots after J & J vaccination

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Wednesday that it received reports of 28 of the 8.7 million people who received J & J’s Janssen coronavirus vaccine, who developed rare blood coagulation syndrome. Three of them died in a condition known as thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS).

However, according to data from Johns Hopkins University, more than 2.2 million people were diagnosed with Covid-19 and more than 43,000 died during the same period (March 2-7).

The group of about 8.7 million has expanded to about 59,000 new Covid-19 cases reported in the last two months and nearly 1,150 new Covid-19 deaths, 40 times the number of TTS reported and confirmed cases. That’s it.

According to CDC data, less than 1 in 300,000 people who have been vaccinated with the J & J vaccine are more likely to develop TTS.

However, in the last two months, one in 7,600 Americans have died in Covid-19.

The CDC states that TTS is believed to be associated with J & J’s Janssen vaccine, but the benefits of the vaccine still outweigh the risks. All cases were found in people between the ages of 18 and 59.

“Most of these TTS cases occur in the age group of 30-49,” CDC Dr. Tom Shimabukuro said at a meeting of the CDC Immunization Advisory Board.

Most cases were female, but six were reported male, Shimabukuro said. He said 19 had a type of cerebral thrombosis called cerebral venous sinus thrombosis (CVST), while others had a different type of thrombus.

The CDC warns doctors and patients about possible complications so that they can be quickly and appropriately recognized and treated.

“There were no known or documented cases of coagulopathy,” Shimabukuro said. This shows that it is difficult to predict who is likely to develop this condition.

“It’s important to recognize TTS early and start appropriate treatment,” he added. “TTS is a rare, clinically serious and life-threatening condition.”

TTS is also linked to AstraZeneca’s coronavirus vaccine, which is not licensed in the United States but is widely used in the United Kingdom and Europe.
