Fast recovery as Greenfield confronts Lunenberg for state title hockey game
GREENFIELD The celebration of a 3A division championship victory in western Massachusetts was short for the Greenfield hockey team, but the green wave will try to celebrate again on Saturday.
Greenfield travels to the Holy Cross campus to play central Massachusetts champion Lunenberg / Ayer-Shirley for a state championship at the Hart Center in Worcester.
Lunenberg (13-9-1) joined the central group Mass. As seeded No. 5. The Blue Knights made it through the quarterfinals and semi-finals with wins over Worcester, fourth seeded and Northbridge, seeded.
The Blue Knights are a cooperative program at two schools.
Lunenberg won the Central Mass championship. With a 4-2 win over Hopedale # 2 at the Wallace Civic Center in Fitchburg on Wednesday.

The Blue Knights started season 3-7 and qualified for the playoffs on the last day of the regular season.
From what we could tell, it's a small, quick team, said Bouchard. Lots of skill. Comparable to our hockey style. We are looking for a very fast type of skating game with puck movement.
Greenfield had a short workout on Friday to prepare.
We went light today, said Greenfields Jacob Bryant. We really enjoyed our elders today. It was just another bonding day. Get together for a great game.
Whatever their opponent, the Green Wave will play its game.
We're just going to play Green Wave hockey, said Bryant. This is all that we have preached in the past three and a half months. This is why we work every day … we are going to play our game and hopefully come out with a state championship.
In the 48 hours between games, the wave will watch the Blue Knights movie and their usual routine.
The status quo, said Bouchard. We have a traditional pre-match skate. For the preparation, we have some tracks to see the matches they have played. We believe as a coaching staff that we have prepared our team.
It may be the first meeting between the two schools, according to Bouchard.
I do not know if the two programs have already clashed, said Bouchard. I don't know the history of this, but I don't know in the past 20 years.
Lunenberg goalkeeper Nick Granger played well in the playoffs.
Their goalkeeper is on fire right now, said Bouchard.
Granger made 17 saves in the win over Hopedale.
