Nuvei Corp. Technology. Up five cents, or 0.11 percent, to $44.16. Shareholders of Nuvei Corp. have voted overwhelmingly in favor of a plan that will see the company bought by a US private equity firm and taken private at a valuation of US$6.3 billion. The company says 99.24 percent of those who voted were in favor of the deal which will see them pay US$34 per share in cash. The proposal for the Montreal-based payments technology company was presented by Advent International, alongside existing shareholders Novacap, CDPQ and Philip Fayer, president and CEO of Nuvei, in April. Under the terms of the agreement, Fayer will remain CEO and chairman of the board and Nuvei will continue to be based in Montreal.
Ballard Power Systems Inc. (TSX:BLDP). Industrialists. Up 24 cents, or 6.84 percent, to $3.75. Ballard Power Systems Inc. and Vertiv have signed a partnership agreement focused on the use of hydrogen-powered fuel cell systems for backup power applications in data centers. Vertiv is a manufacturer of power and cooling systems and other equipment used by data centers. Nicolas Pocard, vice president of marketing and strategic partnerships at Ballard, says the agreement allows the companies to work together to offer cost-effective fuel cell backup power solutions with no greenhouse gas emissions and evolving. Vertiv used Ballard fuel cell power modules as part of one of its uninterruptible power systems as part of a proof of concept at its Ohio facility.
