VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Sep 14, 2020 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – INTERFOR CORPORATION (Interfor or the Company) (TSX: IFP) announced today that it has entered into an agreement to sell its specialty sawmill located in Gilchrist, Oregon to Neiman Enterprises Inc. (Neiman).

The Gilchrist sawmill, which specializes in ponderosa pine and lodgepole pine boards, has been downsized since mid-June of this year due to economic factors related to COVID-19. Before its downsizing, the plant produced about 80 million board feet of lumber per year and employed about 150 people.

Neiman, based in Hulett, Wyoming, is a private, third-generation family business with pine sawmills in Wyoming and South Dakota and a sawmill in Colorado. Neiman intends to restart the plant in the near future and to rehire a substantial number of employees on leave. Neiman will also consider possible future capital investment opportunities for the facility.

After careful consideration of potential future options for the plant, we believe the sale to Neiman offers the best long-term outcome for our employees and the surrounding communities, said Andrew Horahan, vice president of Western operations at Interfors. I would like to thank all of the Operation Gilchrist employees for their understanding and patience over the past few months.

This transaction represents a significant milestone for the Neiman group of companies, said Jim Neiman, President and CEO of Neiman Enterprises Inc. We look forward to restarting the plant in the near term and working with employees and the community to ensure the long-term success of this historic operation.

The closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2020.

Interfor will continue to own and operate its three northwestern United States stud plants located in Molalla, Oregon, Longview, Washington and Port Angeles, Washington.

One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
