Blue Bell Texas ice cream licker sentenced to 30 days in prison

Adrien Anderson of Texas was sentenced to 30 days in jail Wednesday after pleading guilty to criminal wrongdoing for licking a carton of Blue Bell ice cream and putting it in a Walmart freezer.

He posted the video on Facebook in August, which showed him licking a jar of vanilla ice cream and eating bits of it with his fingers, before leaving the container behind.

Anderson ended up buying the contaminated tub, and no charges were immediately laid against him.

Several days after the coup, Anderson was sentenced to Jefferson County prison on criminal misdemeanor charges.

Port Arthur Walmart would have lost money by replacing ice cream and should have paid the costs of the police investigation, according to Jefferson County attorney Bob Wortham.

Anderson risked up to a year behind bars and a maximum fine of $ 4,000 after pleading guilty in January, but was instead sentenced to 30 days in prison and 180 days of probation over two years.

He was also ordered to serve 100 hours of community service and forced to pay a fine of $ 1,000, as well as $ 1,565 in restitution for the ice to be thrown away, KBMT reported.

In response to the incident, Blue Bell representatives confirmed that they had removed – and replaced – all of the half-gallon sizes of their homemade vanilla flavor at the affected store.
