Studio Ghibli, the actor of Pokmon Kumiko Okae dies from COVID-19
He announced today that voice actor and host of Pokemon and Studio Ghibli Kumiko Okae has died from COVID-19.
Pokemon and Studio voice actor Ghibli Kumiko Okae died in hospital due to complications from COVID-19. His death was confirmed by his management on May 15.
The actor and host was 63 years old. Okae was hospitalized on April 3 with a high fever. Her condition worsened after receiving radiation therapy in January, which she needed after surgery for breast cancer.
Okaebegan began her acting career in 1975 at TBS Television’s OmitsuShe is best known for her voice work in the 2005 film Pokmon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew like Jenny, with anime classicsThe dog of Flanders and Studio Ghibli Cat Return, for which she provided vocal work for Elina and Naoko, respectively.
In addition to vocal work, Okae has made a name for himself in live action rates such as Attack 1, Wild mom,Lucky sevenand the Mikkai no yadofilm series.She was a well known host for programs such as NHK Renso Game and TBS Television Hanamaru marketfrom 1996 to 2014. His last role was in the miniseries NTV 2017 My Lovers Secret.
Okae is survived by her husband Baku Ohwada and daughter Miho, both well known in the theater.
