Veteran comic actor Baba Suwe buried in Lagos
Veteran comic actor Babatunde Omidina, better known as Baba Suwe, was buried today.
The actor died Monday in the Ikorodu district of Lagos.
The news of his death prompted reactions from prominent Nigerians, including Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo, who said Baba Suwe’s death had left a void that would take some time to be filled in the entertainment industry. I pray that God will grant the late Babatunde Omidina eternal rest and grant family, colleagues and associates the courage to endure irreparable loss.
Responding, House of Representatives Speaker Femi Gbajabiamila implored the children and family of the deceased to find solace in the way he used his God-given talent to positively influence the lives of others.
Omidina’s popularity began after his participation in Iru Esin, produced by Olaiya Igwe in 1997. Other films he has starred in include Arewa Okunrin, Owo laso oge, Obj’obalo, kb gmn, Ojabo Kofo, Teni Teni, etc.
The actor was accused in 2011 by the National Drug Control Agency of cocaine trafficking. This was later found to be false and defamatory by the High Court in Lagos.
