Holmes County purchases land for bridge replacement
MILLERBURG – The Holmes County Commissioners on Monday approved the purchase of a plot of land on County Road 19 to develop and improve a bridge in need of repair.
The count agreed to buy just over an acre from Bunny John LLC for $ 15,000.
“This is a County Road 19 bridge replacement project,” Assistant Engineer Josh Galbraith said. “There is misalignment and an unpleasant curve along the bridge. We are going to realign it and replace the bridge.”

Galbraith added that the bridge, which is located just north of the County Road 19 exit from County Road 59, is also not in very good condition.
He said the project would be offered for a bid as soon as the county receives the right of way with the deal closing. He expects the project to start in the spring.
Commissioner Rob Ault said from information he received from the engineer that it appears the plan is to remove the bend from this stretch of road.
WE Quicksall Approved for Engineering Services for 2022
In the remaining cases, the commissioners approved an engineering services agreement with WE Quicksall for 2022.
“It’s something we do every year,” Ault said. “They help us get some of the grant funds and have been helping us for many years.”
Human Resources Director Misty Burns noted that this was the last week of health insurance enrollment open for county employees.
