UKs Reel Cinemas appoints Bollywood programmer – Deadline
EXCLUSIVE: Reel Cinemas, the British multiplex channel with 15 sites and 78 screens, has entrusted Moviegoers Entertainment with the management of its Bollywood programming.
As the exhibitor aims to carve out a bigger slice of the annual Bollywood pie of £ 15million + ($ 20million) in the UK, moviegoers will take care of the exclusive Hindi film lineup for the chain, with the aim of building on successes such as Sooryavanshi, which grossed £ 600,000 ($ 800,000) in the UK this year, and Padmaavat, which cost £ 2.2million ($ 2.9million) in 2019.
Reel Cinemas was founded by Kailash Suri in 2001 and has a pipeline of new openings slated for years to come, the company said.
Moviegoers is directed by Pranab Kapadia and has previously teamed up with Mumbai-based filmmakers Gauri Shinde and R. Balki of Hope Productions to co-produce two of their upcoming feature films.
