On Tuesday, May 10, 2022, Joseph J. Dallas, 99, of Langhorne PA passed away quietly in his sleep at his home.
Born June 14, 1922 in Philadelphia PA, he graduated from Northeast Catholic HS for Boys in 1941. Joseph then enlisted in the army serving in the Signal Corps during World War II. Before enlistment, growing up in northeast Philadelphia, he had never been farther than New Jersey, but in the military he traveled from boot camp in Kansas, to training as an engineer to the University of Nebraska, to Seattle WA to Hawaii, then across the Pacific to several islands and finally to Japan. After the war ended, he received an honorable discharge from service as a sergeant in the 1089th Signal Corps, 63rd Air Service Group on January 5, 1946.
Always a good dancer, on his way back to Philadelphia, he stopped to visit an Army friend in Los Angeles and attended several USO dances in Hollywood. From Los Angeles he traveled by train to Chicago. As he walked through the cold and snow in Chicago to another station, a limo pulled up beside him and the passenger rolled down the window and shouted “hey soldier, do you need a ride “. Joe came to find it was the mayor of Chicago offering him a ride.
Using the GI bill, he enrolled at the University of Pennsylvania and took graduate night classes at the Wharton School in 1951. While attending night school, he and several other students Catholics were invited to attend local church dances in West Philadelphia. It was during one of these balls that Joseph met the love of his life Anne Marie Holmes. They were married on June 6, 1953, and eventually moved to Levittown in 1956. Joseph was a devout Catholic and an original member of Queen of the Universe Church, where he volunteered for many years as a bailiff. In 2000, Joseph and Anne moved to Flowers Mill. Joseph loved his new home and felt blessed with wonderful friends and neighbors.
Professionally, Joseph spent more than 40 years with the Department of Defense in various positions within the Veterans Administration and Frankford Arsenal. He retired in 1987 as Eastern Region Labor Relations Manager, Department of the Navy, OPM stationed at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. During his career, he was elected Vice President of the National Association of Active and Retired Federal Employees (NARFE).
Joseph was a devoted family man and cherished his role as a grandfather, spoiling his three grandchildren in retirement with trips to Disney World, Radio City Christmas shows, Hollywood Video, Chuckie Cheese and movies. Joseph took a particular interest in family photography and always ensured that the special moments of his grandchildren growing up were well documented. He was very proud of the life and accomplishments of his grandchildren. This included visiting his granddaughter Lauren, attending a football game at the University of Notre Dame, and later celebrating his wedding in Chicago.
Joseph was an avid reader who read two newspapers a day until his death and cut stories for his granddaughter Liz, a publicist in Los Angeles about his business and clients. Liz bragged to her colleagues that she had the only grandfather who wrote newspaper articles about Meek Mills and the opening of the Met in Philadelphia. Additionally, Joseph had a special bond with his grandson Matt who lived in the area. He was proud to attend Matt’s Eagle Scout ceremony. Joseph stayed in touch with his grandchildren via Facetime and was thrilled when his great-grandson Connor came to visit from Chicago.
Joseph was predeceased by his parents, Joseph A and Kathleen Welsh Dallas and his son Paul Dallas, sisters Eleanor Dallas and Dorothea Redden. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Anne Dallas and his sister Grace Bryson of Clawson MI. He is also survived by his daughter Patricia (Mike) Sharkey, his sons Joseph Jr. and Michael (Maureen) Dallas, his grandchildren Lauren (Jack) Sharkey Byam, Elizabeth Sharkey and Matthew Dallas and his great-grandson Connor Byam.

View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily.
