Deepika Padukone on Bollywood’s collaboration with other industries: We’re heading to India which is really getting closer

Deepika Padukone’s shining moment arrived as the Cannes Film Festival officially kicked off in the French Riviera. The actress is a member of the Cannes jury this year and will be present during the ten days of the festival. While her first appearance has already made headlines, the actress is thrilled to put India on the global map.

Speaking to ETimes, Deepika said, “After being an actor for 15 years, for your work to finally be recognized on a global platform like this, and to be able to represent the country, obviously there’s a feeling grateful and being extremely overwhelmed.”

The actress added that it is “only a matter of time” before Indian cinema sees a global breakthrough. Talking about the development of Hindi and regional cinema at home, Deepika feels that “it’s going exactly where it should have gone, and where it should have gone a while ago”.

Commenting on the change, Deepika remarked, “Globally, Indian talent and films are, of course, recognized, but in India too, we are seeing a change. We are now moving towards a place where you see India really I think, We used to work in isolation before – there was a Hindi film industry, a Telugu film industry, a Tamil industry and a Malayalam industry… And now those guardrails are falling. cultural acceptance, as it should be.”

The actress also shared her thoughts on what could possibly be missing. “Well, honestly, I think India, in itself, is such a big country of 1.3 billion people. Cannes 2022 kicked off on May 16 and several Indian faces will be seen at the film festival this year. Besides Deepika, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Pooja Hegde, Nayanthara, Urvashi Rautela, R Madhavan, Hina Khan, Helly Shah, AR Rahman, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tamanna Bhatia, Ricky Kej, Shekhar Kapoor, Prasoon Joshi, Vani Tripathi and Mame Khan will attend.

Akshay Kumar was also scheduled to attend Cannes this year. However, the actor had to do without it after testing positive for Covid-19.
