I can clearly see myself in Bollywood, there’s nothing that hard work and dedication can’t do

I love that Bollywood is often about over-expressing if it’s love then it should be till the death, if fighting then for generations, if tears then rain, if celebrations then dance as he pleases. I really like old Bollywood movies because of the expressions and dance moves. All this makes Bollywood special. I think their kind of performance is beautiful, unique and something modern actors should embrace like traditional acting, she says.

Margo recently watched Fame Game and Gangubai Kathiawadi and enjoyed both. She praised the cast, story, and presentation of these two female concepts.

I sincerely admire Madhuri Dixit [Nene]. To me, she is Bollywood royalty and Alia Bhatt is the talented young star who inspires you. Actually, I don’t have a top ten favorite Bollywood stars or anything in mind. People who have reached the top of Olympus are true professionals and hard workers. I admire them not for their looks but for their dedication and passion for the game, she says.

Margo auditioned for roles and tried to figure out what kind of character she would fit into. I think even doing auditions is a learning process and an opportunity to be discovered, she shares.

Many believe that Bollywood mostly has room for typical-looking heroes and heroines. However, this is not about Margo.

Years of modeling and pageants have taught me that for everything there is a good fit, not necessarily someone is better or worse. For me, things always work out as long as I do what I can to achieve my goal and stay disciplined with my routine. There are plenty of opportunities, but you not only need to be open and at the right time and in the right place, but also have the skills, the confidence and the ability to show what you have. I can clearly see myself in Bollywood because there is nothing hard work and dedication can’t do, she adds.

She also doesn’t think learning a new language or her accent would be a barrier to completing the right project.

I think successful people weren’t trying to copy anyone, they embraced their own personality. It’s better to be the best version of yourself than a poor quality scan of someone else. I don’t need to look for examples in the industry to be confident. I don’t think if Katrina Kaif could learn Hindi, I could too. Maybe I can’t. But I want to be someone that people will say, yeah, she had an accent, but she did. There is a place for everyone in the industry and everyone has their own path, so do I, she explains.

Ask her if she’ll sign on to one project after another to stay in the game, and the beauty queen is quick to add that each new job gives a chance for the next.

Getting noticed is very important, and it’s always hard to be new to something and get people in the industry to believe in you and give you a chance. It’s like going to college, you think the hardest part is getting a place, but then you realize the hardest part is studying and constantly trying to do your best and get good results, she says.

Margo has been in Mumbai for two months. It’s a short time, but she’s enjoying her adventure.

I’m always afraid of wasting time and not being able to make the most of it. This is what motivates me and gives me good stress. Every dream is worth it. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one will. Sure, life has its ups and downs and success isn’t a straight line from A to B. It’s hard, but every challenge is a point of growth. I really enjoy the process and have never looked back on new skills and experiences, she concludes.
