Pankaj Tripathi changes the voice he would like to bring to Bollywood
Pankaj Tripathi struggled a lot to create his name in Bollywood. The actor has done many movies and TV series but rose to fame with Gangs of Wasseypur. Mirzapurs Kaleen Bhaiya has come a long way from an appearance in Run to exemplary roles in Fukrey, Bareilly Ki Barfi, Newton, Stree, Ludo and Mimi. Apart from feature films, the incredible actor has delivered his best in web series like Mirzapur, Criminal Justice, Yours Truly and Criminal Justice: Behind Closed Doors.
After nearly 2 decades in the industry, Pankaj has opened up about Bollywood’s take on an artist. The 45-year-old actor thinks Bollywood decides too quickly on an artist’s worth. According to him, talented actors take time in the industry and many are still in line. The Mimi star revealed one thing he’d like to change about the film industry.
Pankaj shared his thoughts in an interview with Bollywood Hungama. He said: “There are a lot of hurdles, challenges, competition, insecurity but despite that I am working here on my terms and conditions and people have accepted me. I respectfully declined movies from major production houses that ‘No, I don’t get excited’ and the other person accepted.
He further added, “But yes many more times I would like to change about this industry that you decide too quickly on the value of the artist. Don’t decide the value, try to give everyone an equal chance. But again, whether it’s a business or the industry, it’s hard to say that everyone should have a level playing field. Because it’s a business, how will everyone have the same chance?… But yes many times, talents like me need time to arrive in the cinema industry. Sometimes people more talented than me are still lining up to find their own space.
Pankaj Tripathi is preparing for his next film Sherdil: The Philibit Saga. The comedy-drama directed by filmmaker Srijit Mukherji also stars Neeraj Kabi and Sayani Gupta. The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Reliance Entertainment and Match Cut Productions Private Limited. The film is set to hit theaters on June 24, 2022.
On the work front, Pankaj will next be seen in Sherdil: The Philibit Saga. He is also working on Fukrey 3 and has started filming for Mirzapur 3. His character Kaleen Bhaiya is loved by millions in the popular Prime Video series. Mirzapur is produced by Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan Akhtar under Excel Entertainment.
