Hollywood sign gets a makeover to celebrate its 100th anniversary

Preparation work began on Monday as crews prepare to apply another layer of pain to the famous The Hollywood Sign.
A team of 10 workers will apply nearly 400 gallons of paint to the panel for eight weeks. Installation will begin on Monday and the project is expected to be completed in November. This year marks the centenary of iconic brands.
The sign is the pride of Los Angeles, and we’re thrilled for fans around the world to see this very special 100th anniversary makeover, said Jeff Zarrinnam, president of the Hollywood Sign Trust.
Sherwin-Williamswho renovated the brand for the last time in 2012, will take over the project. Duggan and Associatesa Los Angeles-based paint company, will paint the 45-foot-tall sign.
The sign, which originally indicated Hollywoodland, was shortened to present-day Hollywood in 1949. It was rebuilt in 1978 and underwent several repairs.
