Lucas Black on NCIS was at the peak of his Hollywood career when he gave up everything for God

Actor Lucas Black on NCIS: New Orleans was very successful when God called him to leave Hollywood. Hed has even starred in many films, including the popular Fast and Furious franchise. But the Holy Spirit convinced him and christian celebrity made the bold decision to put her faith first!

Lucas has spent most of his acting life, starring opposite Billy Bob Thornton at the age of 14 in the Oscar-winning 1996 film, slingshot blade. And the moment Lucas Black joined NCIS: New Orleans as one of the show’s main characters, Special Agent Christopher LaSalle, he was at the height of a successful career.

But then Lucas discovered something better than fame and fortune Jesus!

Lucas Black finds success

Although Lucas Black grew up in a Christian home where he attended church every Sunday, he somehow drifted away from his faith as he got older. But after falling in love and starting a family, he began to reassess the role of faith in his life.

While his appearances in movies and on television have certainly ensured a good life for his wife and children, there are some things money can’t buy. And after becoming a father, this actor began to search for something deeper than worldly success.

When Lucas Black and his wife welcomed their third child in 2015, he turned to the Bible. And that’s when he felt God calling him in a different direction.

This [2015] that was when the Holy Spirit condemned me, Lucas reminded. And really, my faith and my relationship with the Lord has come much closer. It was then that I entered into the role of paternity. So I really wanted to point my kids in the right direction.

Not only was his rigorous work schedule taking away from Lucas’ time with God, it was also taking away from his time with his wife and children. And though many would sacrifice family time for a big paycheck, Lucas couldn’t ignore the convictions in his heart of his Heavenly Father.

And so, at the peak of his Hollywood career, he made the big decision to step out on faith!

In 2019, Lucas Black appeared on NCIS: New Orleans for the last time. He decided to take a break and get away from Hollywood.

The show has been so good to me over the years, exceeding my expectations and goals, it said. But this job is not easy for me, there are a lot of priorities in my life that are being sacrificed for me to be here, but it is time for me to focus on these priorities in my life.

Lucas realized it was time to spend time with his family, as well as with his Heavenly Father.

God reveals next steps for Christian stardom

After leaving NCISLucas Black and his wife Maggie O’Brien have prayed for what’s next.

We were praying for the next step”, Lucas Explain. “We’ve seen a huge culture shift here in America and for a long time movies coming out of Hollywood and into entertainment undermined the role of fatherhood.”

God was faithful in answering Lucas’ prayer. At a homeschooling convention, Lucas Black met Pastor Eric Ludy. Pastor Ludy talked to Lucas about the script for a religious film called Legacy Peak.

Legacy Peak, an original film from Pure Flix, is about a man named Jason who is dating a woman who already has two children. Jason hopes to win the hearts of the children of the woman he intends to marry. It takes the kids on a perfectly planned journey that goes wrong and launches them into an unexpected adventure where they struggle to survive in the wilderness.

After reading the film’s script, Lucas Black and his wife knew it was God’s answer to their prayers.

I read it, my wife read it, and she comes up to me with tears in her eyes and says, I don’t know why you wouldn’t be part of this project.'” he said. “He’s the one who really shines a good light on fathers. He shows the need for a good earthly father. He shows how we can find our fulfillment and the love of our Heavenly Father, and he’s really the one who is going to empower the nuclear family, and especially the fathers there.”

The script and Jason’s role spoke to the heart of Lucas and his passion for being a good father.

One aspect of this story that changed my perspective is that as a father you want to be flexible with your children. It doesn’t have to be a certain way, it said. For me personally, I know that I don’t control, that God controls. I have to trust Him that my children, no matter how much I love them, teach them and discipline them, they are going to screw up. But I must ultimately trust my Heavenly Father that they are in his hands.
