Georgia Holt, singer, actress and mother of pop legend Cher, has died. She was 96 years old.
Cher announced the news on Twitter on Saturday evening, writing that mom is gone. No further details, including the exact cause or date of death, are available at this time.
In September, Holt was admitted to a hospital with pneumonia after dealing with recurring health issues.

Holt was a singer-songwriter, actor, and model best known for his roles in The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet, I Love Lucy, and Jane Wyman Presents Fireside Theater. She has also appeared in several films including A Life of Her Own, Watch the Birdie, Grounds for Marriage and Fathers Little Dividend.
In the 1980s, Holt recorded her country album Honky Tonk Woman, which was later released in 2013 and featured a duet with Cher titled Im Just Your Yesterday. She was also the subject of the 2013 Lifetime documentary Dear Mom, Love Cher.
Holt was born Jackie Jean Crouch on June 9, 1926 in Kensett, Ark. She married and divorced six times in her lifetime and remained in a relationship with Craig Spencer from 1976 until his death. Holt and Chers’ father, John Paul Sarkisian, was married from 1946 to 1947, then remarried in 1965 and divorced again in 1966.
Holt is survived by his two daughters, Cher and Georganne LaPiere; her partner, Spencer; and his grandchildren, Chaz Bono and P. Exeter Blue I.
