The Los Angeles County Public Health Department today reported 2,496 new COVID-19 infections, bringing the county total to 123,004. It also reported 65 new COVID-19-related deaths, bringing that number at 3,642 so far.
In West Hollywood, the number of confirmed cases is now 304, an increase of four from yesterday’s report, according to the announcement made today by the Department of Health. However, the Ministry of Health’s COVID-19 dashboard, which it recently redesigned, reports 248 infections in West Hollywood. The Department of Health has not responded to numerous requests from WEHOville to correct the difference between the number of infections it reports and the number it indicates in its database, which appears to be rarely updated.
Currently, 2,000 people are hospitalized for diseases related to COVID-19, including 26% in intensive care units of hospitals and 17% under ventilation. This is significantly more than the 1,350 to 1,450 daily hospitalizations observed three weeks ago.
The number of confirmed infections continues to grow in communities adjacent to West Hollywood. The Department of Health today reported 329 confirmed infections among residents of Beverly Hills, an increase of 18 from yesterday’s number. Culver City reports 234 infections today, up two from yesterday. The Hollywood district is home to 559 people infected, an increase of 16 from the 543 reported on Monday. And there are 1,008 people in the Melrose neighborhood whose infection has been confirmed. Yesterday’s count was 1,005.
