Sick film actor Pintu Nanda from Odia airlifted to New Delhi for treatment

Ollywood actor Pintu Nanda, who suffered from liver cirrhosis, was flown to New Delhi on Tuesday morning. He will be taken to the Institute of Liver and Biliary Sciences (ILBS), family sources said.

Actors, actresses, supporters and fans of Nanda flocked to Bhubaneswar airport to wish him a speedy recovery. As the actor was transported to the airport in a wheelchair, his fans bid him farewell and wished him back soon after his recovery.

” I thank you all. Your prayers and generous donations gave me the strength to go to Delhi. As small drops of water form an ocean, helpers pour in. It takes a lot of money for my treatment. I hope it will get better. I feel like I will come back and entertain you all once again,” Pintu Nanda said before leaving for New Delhi.

As the actor will undergo a liver transplant, a donor has been designated. But the money needed for treatment is still insufficient.

“So far, we have collected 25% of the total treatment cost. We have to collect the remaining 75%,” Odia actor Mitu Mithun said.

“The cost of the treatment is around Rs 50-60 lakh. From his family members I know that around Rs 10 lakh was arranged. I would therefore like to ask all of you to help us raise funds for his treatment. I would also like to ask Siddhant Mohapatra and Sritam Das to raise the issue with the Chief Minister,” he said.

Jatra actress Rani Priyadarshini, who was seen at the airport, helped with Nanda’s treatment.

“I was performing at Jagatsinghpur yesterday. From the stage, I pleaded with people to contribute something to Pintu Bhai’s treatment. I will continue until his full recovery,” Priyadarshini said.

“Today I could only donate Rs 5000. I urge the people of Odisha to contribute something for the treatment of Pintu Bhai,” a fan said.

Actor Nanda was undergoing treatment at a private hospital based in Bhubaneswar.
