Lucasfilm president allegedly lied about Kevin Feige’s ‘Star Wars’ movie
After the cancellation of Kevin Feige star wars project, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy came out to say that her film not only was never in production, but was never discussed. However, a new report suggests that’s not quite true.
The report in question comes from Puck’s Matt Belloni, who was the former editor of The Hollywood Reporter and now runs the “What I Hear” newsletter. In the most recent edition of her newsletter, Belloni said the film was not only in development, but that Kathleen Kennedy was receiving active updates on the film’s progress. These updates include Michael Waldron, who wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madnesssigning on to write the script, which he has publicly said he is working on multiple times.
The Puck writer also refutes the claim that the Star Wars movie was only announced by the press or fandom sites, pointing out that the project was announced by former Disney president Alan Horn before he left for Warner Bros. Discovery in 2022. At the time, Horn said the collaboration “just made sense.” However, according to Belloni, Kathleen Kennedy was less enthusiastic about Kevin Feige co-producing a film, saying she was “never enthusiastic” about the Marvel Studios helm moving to Lucasfilm.
Despite this news, it is not known if Kevin Feige is star wars film will never be revealed, or if Kathleen Kennedy’s denial means the film is scrapped entirely. Lucasfilm announced three new films at the recent Star Wars Celebration in the UK.
