4th suspect arrested in Hollywood Broadwalk shooting amid search for another still at large – WSVN 7News | Miami News, Weather, Sports

HOLLYWOOD, FL. (WSVN) – Police have arrested a fourth suspect in the Memorial Day mass shooting on the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, as they search for another suspect and victims continue to recover.

7News cameras captured a peaceful scene on the Broadwalk on Sunday evening, six days after police say gunfire rang out and nine innocent bathers were hit.

As things seem to be getting back to normal at the popular spot, Hollywood police confirmed they apprehended Ariel Cardahn Paul around 8 p.m. Sunday.

His arrest comes a day after police say officers from the US Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested Jordan Burton.

Burton faces a charge of attempted first degree murder, as well as eight counts of attempted second degree murder and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.

Last week Keshawn Paul Stewart and Morgan Deslouches, both 18, were arrested in connection with the crime. Stewart has since been released from prison.

Detectives said a fifth suspect, Lionel JeanCharles Jr., remains at large.

Investigators said the suspects got into an argument on Monday and began shooting.

The youngest of the nine victims, Amari, 16 months, was taken to hospital, where he was treated and released.

While taking part in a peace march in West Palm Beach on Saturday, the toddlers’ parents opened up about the traumatic incident.

It’s heartbreaking to see him go through this, said Barbara Engel, Amaris’ mother. He’s in a bit of pain and he’s got some time to recover, but it’s really hard and sad to see. Instead of enjoying his childhood, his first summer walk, he will recover.

Just shows how you can just be outside, the child’s father said as he used a megaphone to address protesters.

When asked why they decided to be part of the peace march, the couple said they were compelled to stand up against gun violence.

It was not an easy thing to do so soon after going through such a traumatic event, Engel said, but we felt compelled to do it because we were so lucky to be here today, and our result could have been very different.

Sunday evening, two of the victims were still in hospital. They are expected to recover.
