Unwanted Telemarketing Calls Legislation Passes Senate and Assembly

ALBANY— New York State Senator Joseph A. Griffo, R-53, Rome, and Assemblyman Alex Bores, a New York Democrat, announced on Tuesday that they had tabled legislation that they say them, would help mitigate unwanted telemarketing calls. and Assembly.

Griffo supported a law requiring telemarketers making live sales calls to notify customers that they can request that their number be added to the seller’s entity’s do not call list. He also introduced legislation that would require telecommunications companies to provide free call mitigation technology to their customers in order to stop fraudulent “spoofing” calls.
