Former Georgia QB Stetson Bennett makes Hollywood history official and signs with Los Angeles Rams
Stetson Bennett put its Hollywood history in writing on Thursday.
The Los Angeles Rams signed the former Georgia quarterback to a four-year rookie contract worth an estimated $4.54 million. Bennett was selected with the No. 128 pick in the fourth round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Georgia’s first quarterback drafted since Jake Fromm in 2020.
Former UGA offensive tackle Warren McClendon, selected in the fifth round, also signed with the team on Thursday.
Bennett will likely see his first action Aug. 12 when the Rams open preseason competition against the neighboring Los Angeles Chargers.
The former walk-on led Georgia to back-to-back national championships and set the school’s single-season assist record. Bennetts 4,127 passing yards and 37 total touchdowns earned him the 2022 Burlesworth Trophy, awarded to the nation’s best player who began his career as an extra.
Bennett was also a Heisman runner-up, Georgias first since Garrison Hearst in 1992.
The native of Blackshear, Georgia should already feel a little comfortable at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. This is where Bennett last played football, burning the TCU defense with six total touchdowns. The Bulldogs defeated the Horned Frogs 65-7, the most lopsided scoreline in college football playoff history.
Indeed, Bennett proved he could handle the big city scene time and time again at UGA. He was 4-0 in the CFP, responsible for 15 touchdowns on a turnover.
That included a pair of fourth-quarter comeback performances against Alabama in the 2022 National Championship and Ohio State in the 2022 Peach Bowl. Bennett threw for two touchdowns in the final quarter of both games to secure wins key to the Bulldogs program.
Bennett is now the sixth former Bulldog on the Rams roster. Bennett joins Stafford and former teammates McClendon, Derion Kendrick, Richard LeCounte III and Sony Michel.
