Sale of uniforms at WMC

WEIRTON – The Weirton Medical Center Auxiliary will hold a two-day sale of Robert’s medical uniforms in the center’s atrium lobby. The sale will take place from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Wednesday and from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday. The uniforms are available in a variety of fashion styles and from different brands, officials noted.

Railwayman breakfast set

Blessing of Animals in Richmond

RICHMOND — The Outreach Committee at Richmond Methodist Church, located at 122 S. Sugar St., Richmond, is holding an Animal Blessing Ceremony on Saturday led by Pastor Tom Scott.

Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. in the church parking lot with free donuts and drinks available. There will be free “pets and their people” photo ops and door prize draws.

The blessing begins at 11 a.m. sharp

Donations will benefit the Jefferson County Humane Society.

Starkdale Church will host VBS

STEUBENVILLE — Starkdale Presbyterian Church will hold its Vacation Bible School program from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 24-28 at the church, located at 4600 Sunset Blvd.

Registration will take place at 8:30 am. Children ages 4 through those entering sixth grade are eligible.

Officials said they were thrilled with this year’s theme, “Keepers of the Kingdom, Standing in Today’s Battle for Truth Through Answers in Genesis.”

The theme takes place in a medieval setting of castles and knights. Each day the children will learn through Bible study, scripture, crafts, music, and outdoor play various lessons around this theme.

A light lunch will be provided at 10:30 a.m.

There will be a short program at noon on June 28. Following the program, everyone will be invited to an ice cream social.

Officials said they looked forward to the opportunity to provide a week of learning combined with lots of fun activities.

The Rosemont Chapel will host VBS

STEUBENVILLE – The Rosemont chapel will organize a vacation Bible school whose theme this year will be “Hero Hotline”. The event will take place the week of July 24-29. The Bible School program will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. Children aged 6 to 18 can participate. Classes for adults will take place from July 24 to 28 starting at the same time.

The church is located at the corner of Williams Boulevard and Goulds Road.

Jumble sale in Cadiz

CADIZ — A flea market in the trunk will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 5 at Sally Buffalo Park in Cadiz. The flea market is looking for vendors who wish to participate. The cost is $10 per seat. For more information, call (740) 942-1102.

Summer picnic in honor of veterans

UNIONPORT — The Masons of the Order of the Eastern Star Summer Picnic will be held from 4-7 p.m. on August 6 at the Unionport Community Center. The event will focus on honoring veterans and first responders. There will be food, entertainment and fellowship. The event is sponsored by Wreaths Across America.

The city will organize a health fair

STEUBENVILLE — CHANGE Inc.’s Family Medical Care Community Health Center will host a community health fair to mark National Health Center Week, 2023. This event is part of a nationwide campaign taking place during the week of June 6 to August 12 at to raise awareness of the mission and accomplishments of U.S. Health Centers. According to officials, this will raise awareness among dedicated staff members who provide health care to the medically underserved.

The health fair will be held from 8 a.m. to noon on August 8 in the Steubenville High School gymnasium, located at 420 N. Fourth St.

In addition to a variety of free screenings and vendor talks, there will be a low-cost lab fair. Participants can receive a full blood test for $40 that includes a lipid panel, CHC, CMP and TSH or PSA and A1C for $10 each.

Representatives from local community organizations will be on hand to provide information on programs and services. The event is sponsored in part by Trinity Health System.

AIM organizes a celebration of life event

STEUBENVILLE — The AIM Women’s Center is actively committed to saving lives in the Ohio Valley. A celebration of life will be held from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on August 12 at Restoration Church, located at 108 Phillips Lane, Steubenville. The public is invited to attend the free event which will feature a day of fun and entertainment for the whole family.

There will be inflatables, games, free food, pony rides and a petting zoo. At 2 p.m., special guests who have donated money will be invited into the church for an update on events at AIM. Sponsors will then be recognized at the event.

Platinum and Gold sponsors will be included in media releases. Online donations are accepted by visiting the aimwomenscenter.com website.

Donations can include platinum, $5,000; gold, $2,500; bronze, $1,500; and silver, $1,000.
