A Hollywood-Themed Spring Ball to Encourage Girls to Ask Boys On Saturday
A choice of ladies formal dance will take place Saturday from 8-11 p.m. at BYU-Idaho's John W. Hart Gymnasium.
“We know that recently with date nights, guys have been really encouraged to ask girls out,” said Rachel Scott, a student activities volunteer on the dance committee. “We wanted to kind of change it up and give girls an opportunity to ask guys out.”
The Ladies' Choice Dance – where girls are encouraged to ask a boy to accompany them – is the final event of BYU-I's week-long SpringFest event, and girls are encouraged to ask a boy to accompany them.
“I don’t know if this will encourage more people to ask questions or discourage them,” said Alana Lupfer, a freshman dance major. “I know sometimes you have a problem with guys asking out girls, but I don't know if (girl-asks-guy) will be much better.”

The dance has a Hollywood theme and participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite actor or actress in formal attire. The students with the best costumes will receive prizes.
“Maybe I’ll get dressed,” Lupfer said. “I have this sequined suit that might be good.”
In addition to the costume contest, the dance will also feature a live DJ and refreshments.
“Bring your friends, bring everyone!” » Scott said. “We're really excited about everything that's happening and we're more than ready to throw the party, so bring the crowd.
Admission is $5 for a single ticket or $8 for a couples ticket.
Students can purchase tickets online or at the door.
