Kangana Ranaut to leave Bollywood if she wins Loksabha elections
Kangana Rananut, in a recent interview, said that she will leave Bollywood if she is elected from Mandi in the Loksabha elections. She also added that she would ideally focus on one thing and pick up what offers her “passionate commitment.”
In an interview with India Today's sister channel AajTak, Kangana Ranaut was asked how she would balance Bollywood and politics. She said: “Ideally I would like to do just one job. But I will finish my previous work, I will be engaged in production (which I have at hand).
She then gave a resounding 'yes' when asked if she would bid farewell to the film industry after wrapping up her earlier commitments if elected from Mandi in the Loksabha elections.
She also said in Hindi, “The world of cinema is a lie, everything is false. They create a very different environment, it's a brilliant world. A false setting, a false bubble that must reach the audience – whether to invoke happiness or sadness. This is the reality and I must live up to the people's expectations. In the end, I shouldn't feel like anyone else could have done better than me. There are a lot of expectations and I'm new to the civil service so I have a lot to learn and do. As I learn on the job, the stakes are high.
Kangana Rananut added, “I am a deeply passionate person. I never wanted to do a job because I had to. Even in films, I start writing, and when I get bored of playing a role, I direct or produce, so I have a very fertile mind and I want to engage with passion. So if I see that possibility in politics – that I engage with it with passion – then I think that will appeal to me. I'm going to follow my instinct.
Kangana Ranaut will next be seen in 'Emergency' where she will play former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The release of the film was postponed due to Ranaut's election campaign.
