Actor Nick Pasqual arrested at US-Mexico border for attempted murder – National

Hollywood actor Nick Pasqual was arrested near the U.S.-Mexico border after allegedly breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and attempting to murder her, prosecutors say.

Pasqual starred on screen in films Rebel Moon, Part One And Poor Paul. He also starred in an episode of how I Met Your Mother.

THE Announcement from the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office On Wednesday, Pasqual was arrested at a border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas, while apparently trying to flee the country. He is being extradited to Los Angeles County to face charges of attempted murder and domestic violence.

Prosecutors say Pasqual broke into his ex-girlfriend's Los Angeles home on May 23 and stabbed her multiple times with a knife. She survived the attack but was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Pasqual's ex-girlfriend “had recently filed a restraining order” against him, prosecutors note.

The victim's name has not been released by authorities, but a GoFundMe page to support her recovery, she identifies her as Allie Shehorn, a Hollywood makeup artist. Shehorn worked on Rebel Moon, Part Onewith Pasqual and his other credits include those of 2024mean girls and the Oscar nomineeBabylon.

My thoughts and sincere sympathies go out to the victim of this horrific incident,” said Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascn. “This heinous incident is a stark reminder of the dangers of domestic violence. We will ensure that the person responsible for this egregious act is held accountable for their actions.

Pasqual was charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of first-degree residential burglary in the presence of a person and one count of injury to a spouse, cohabitant, fiancé, boyfriend, girlfriend or parent of a child.

If convicted, Pasqual faces life in prison.

The GoFundMe page supporting Shehorn's recovery has exceeded its fundraising goal of US$100,000.

The funds will be used to cover Shehorn's “significant medical expenses, including her extended hospital stay, surgeries, treatments and ongoing care she will require during her recovery period,” reads the page.

Shehorn required multiple surgeries to treat her injuries, but as of Tuesday, she has been removed from the intensive care unit, according to GoFundMe organizers Emily MacDonald and Jed Dornoff. Surgeons worked to close the wounds to Shehorn's neck and repair “severed tendons in his right arm.”

By Sunday, Shehorn had recovered enough to have her breathing and feeding tubes removed.

“Allie is able to speak. She is in a lot of pain but remains silly and optimistic,” Dornoff wrote in an update. “I read him the names on the donation list. She started crying seeing and hearing all the names, love and support. THANKS.”

Dornoff also revealed that one of Shehorn's friends, a sort of “foster mom” named Christine, was “the one who found her and saved her.”

“She was very brave and acted quickly when she found Allie bleeding. Thank you Christine for saving his life.

The last update on the page was dated Wednesday, reporting that Shehorn is “taking positive steps toward her recovery.”

“It’s still a very long road but she faces it with courage and determination.”

According to Statistics Canada data on domestic violence, 44 percent of Canadian women who have ever been in an intimate relationship reported experiencing some form of psychological, physical or sexual violence from their partner. Women are significantly more likely than men to be victims of domestic violence.

Just under 500 people were killed by their intimate partners in Canada between 2014 and 2019. Eighty percent of these victims were women.
