Viral video shows actor Raveena Tandon being pushed around by crowd, no police complaint filed | Bombay News

BOMBAI: ONE viral video on X (formerly Twitter) showed the Bollywood actor Raveena Tandon being pushed around by a group of people outside of her Bandra residence Saturday evening. While a man in the video claimed that the actor driver had hit his mother with the actor's car, police later said this claim was not supported by any evidence. In the video, a woman also accused the actor's driver of assault, but no formal complaint was filed.Tandon did not respond to texts for comment. No FIR was registered by the Khar Police.
According to police, Tandon was returning to his Bandra residence on Sunday evening in his car driven by his driver. CCTV footage shows the driver reversing while trying to drive her to the actor's residence. A group of women passing by reportedly asked the driver to be careful and that he might have hit someone.
Police said a verbal argument broke out between the driver and the women. Later, Tandon came out of her house to come to the driver's rescue. The women's relatives had gathered. In the viral video clip, the women's relatives are heard claiming that the driver hit some of them. One of the women is heard saying she had a nosebleed. Tandon tried to calm people down but was pushed around. The actor was heard saying: “Don't hit me.”
Police said both parties were asked if they wanted to file a formal complaint, but they declined. In the video, the women's relatives claimed that they were forced to wait at the Khar police station for four hours and their complaint was not filed. “Claims that the police chased away the group and did not lodge a complaint are false,” said zonal DCP Raj Tilak Roushan.
Roushan added that the car did not hit anyone. Police viewed CCTV footage of the incident and conducted a preliminary investigation.
